The Supreme Sacrifice

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. --Romans 12:1, NKJV

The place--San Antonio, Texas. The date--March, 1836. The event--a famous battle for the independence of Texas. In a Spanish mission call the Alamo, 182 lives were sacrificed. Among those heroic men were men like William Travis, Jim Bowie, and Davy Crockett. All the men at the Alamo died for something they believed in.

Our text is teaching us something different. We are to present our bodies a sacrifice unto the Lord while we are living. There is nothing we can give more beneficial to Christ than ourselves. It is only reasonable that we live for Him. He died for us!
